The Ideal Candidate:

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Catering/Conferences professional to utilize their creativity and attention to detail to assist groups in planning and executing meetings and celebrations at the Tides Inn. Responsible for selling and upselling all resort amenities. Will work with clients in all phases of the event planning and oversee the actual event. Must be able to effectively sell and service corporate, association, government, and social groups ensuring superior customer service is experienced.

DUTIES

Work Performed:

1.Effectively sells public space, Food & Beverage, and services of the resort to maximize revenues.

2.Works with Sales and Banquet departments to generate maximum revenues, develop new events and activities and ensures repeat bookings.

3.Know meeting room sets and capabilities.

4.Meet and greet group clients and coordinate pre-conference meetings for all programs.

5.Develop menus and agendas, ensure BEO's are issued, and complete all pertinent correspondence with outside vendors to finalize programs.

6.Contact groups within 48 hours of definite status.

7.Follow through to completion of function(s) including post program needs.

8.Maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus for all groups.

9.Interact with outside planners and vendors for special events.

10.Establish and maintains good working relationships with outside vendors and contacts.

11.Assist the client in menu planning; may coordinate food, beverage, table arrangements and decorations; assures arrangements are completed as client specified.

12.Conducts tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertains clients as necessary in accordance with the company and property policies.

13.Read, analyze and interpret general business documents related to groups.

14.Write reports and business correspondence relating to groups.

15.Effectively communicate guest needs and respond to questions from managers and associates relating to groups.

16.Proficient with Daylight Software used in Group Sales & Operations.

17.Other duties as assigned.

Responsibility & Authority:

1.Ability to maintain a high level of guest service at all times in all guest services areas.

2.Upholds the resort commitment to hospitality.

3.Works closely with all departments to ensure guest service levels are being met.

4.Ability to deal effectively with all departments with regular communication.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

Must have 3+ years experience in a resort/hotel catering/conference services department. College degree or equivalent work experience required. Prefer wedding planning experience.

Must possess:

 

Ability to develop positive relationships with resort guests and co-workers

Have exceptional attention to detail and effective organizational skill

Ability to work a flexible schedule

Possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

Must have an outgoing inquisitive personality and be self-motivated

Ability to apply common sense with understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Ability to effectively deal with problems involving clients and operational issues

Ability to be proactive and innovative

Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and Daylight experience preferred.

Lifting up to 20 pounds.
